This Week's Point to Ponder
(week of Feb 6 - Feb 12)
Drop the Facade and Be Transparent
It sure is hard to be "real" with people, isn't it? Instead of being authentic and transparent, we go to great pains to show "nothing's wrong here!" We put up the facade, just like all the other women around us. Unfortunately, this is really a pride issue. We don't want anyone to think we don't have it all together. But the bible indicates that pride usually leads to disaster. Proverbs 16:18 says "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."
God gives us clear instruction on this business of being real with people about our struggles, weaknesses, and even failures. In James 5:16, he says "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed."
God doesn't want us to go around pretending that we have it all together. He desires us to be humble. The cool thing is that humility actually leads to great blessings. Luke 14:11 says "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

For Moms:
Many times, children start acting up because it's a way of getting their mom's attention. One way to combat this behavior is by making sure that you are giving your kids some focused attention throughout the day. It isn't enough to just be in the same room with them. They need you to step away from your busy schedule from time to time to really engage with them.
